Scorpion Training at Bristol Corinthian

Scorpion Training Day at Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club, Cheddar Reservoir 19 May 2018

A fantastic warm day in the lee of The Mendips with blue skies and big water – except that there was no wind to speak of until after 1600! Chris Turner did a great job running the classroom session and helping with the dinghy park ‘single-pole v twin-pole’ set ups/ debates. Everyone agreed that it was most valuable having Chris there to give advice on various aspects of boat rigging, sails and general techniques.

Three of the five Scorpions took to the water at some stage of the proceedings but we decided not to do any on-the-water sessions given the general absence of wind (as frustrating for us as it was for the assembled Redwings). Many thanks to Rhys Lankaster of the home club for accommodating us and also for his efforts thus far in building the nucleus of a Scorpion fleet at this brilliant open water venue. Hopefully we can return in the not too distant future for more Scorpion racing.
