Scorpions Take on The Snake Bite….Notts County Sailing Club

What a busy “closed” season we have had at Notts!

Training and Tuning Session

Preparation for our first Scor  Media-selector  pion based event at the club is well underway, and we are so looking forwards to welcoming Tom Jeffcoate and Pete Gray on 23 April for what is guaranteed to be an exciting day of training and tuning.

Scorpion Open 7/8 May 2016

The date may have changed from it’s traditional Autumn slot, but the welcome will still be as friendly! The fleet captains have some Pub Themed entertainment lined up for the Saturday, as well as Pauline’s excellent catering and of course a well stocked bar.  Come and join us – camping will be available and as usual we shall be there to welcome you from Friday night onwards.

First Of The Year

ncsc first yr 1 1 16 -7841Four Scorpions joined the racing for this Charity Open on New Year’s day, and dominated the proceedings.   These included two visitors from Staunton Harold (Pete & Simon took home the trophy – photo courtesy of David Eberlin) and the welcome return of Roller Coaster with Luke Hardy and John Wells.  We understand Luke and John will continue to sail 1967 for the Black and White Series, and we look forward to seeing them out on the water

Notts County Visit The Grafham Grand Prix

65 boats on the start line meant racing was chaotic at times, but we were treated to a steady breeze which certainly blew away some of the Christmas cobwebs! Despite the Sailjuice website results saying otherwise, Dave Snutch and John Wells were the first NCSC boat home.

Scorpion Sailors take on 2016 Snake Bite at Notts Countysnakebite 13 2 16 -8042

Regular Scorpion Sailor Amy Clay teamed up with Commodore Ross Ryan to join the Notts County Team at this year’s Annual Snake Bite event.  A cold day but with a keen wind, saw reduced rigs as the order of the day with some intense racing.  In the end Notts finished in the Gold Fleet, and Cambridge had a well deserved victory.  Other NCSC Scorpion sailors kindly umpired from the RIB’s and stayed warm and dry…! Start of the Black and White Series 6th March

Whilst handicap racing isn’t our favourite we are looking forwards to the start of racing proper at the club. The fleet normally sees three regular Scorpions competing in the Black and White series.
